Welcome to "D's Thoughts", where Danusia can let everyone know what's going on in her life and what's keeping her so busy! Danusia will keep us up-to-date as often as possible but she's very busy, training in gymnastics and living at boarding school so it might be a couple of weeks between entries.

May 2010

Heyy everyone!
Hey Everyone, I don't know how to begin to describe the last couple of months. But I'll start with the positives...The English Championships- My first senior comp and a great start to the year :) I was extremely happy to have come away with such a great result!! This was the first European trial so I was feeling positive.

About a week later in the gym I was doing tourjette fulls on the floor line for beam, when I did one and it really hurt the top of the back of my left leg. I had a little rest and tried another one the same thing happened and my leg felt like jelly at the end. It was lunch time now so I was told to finish and have a break with the other girls. After the break I went and saw the physio who told me I had probably pulled my hamstring and not to do anything that hurt till it settled. Some girls had done this before and told me it only took them a week or two to recover. I was unable to split my legs or straddle them, or run or jump without pain. This limited me hugely. During our European camp at Lilleshall, this pain, with treatment daily began to get slightly better. After 2 and a half weeks and 2 missed trials I was able to put semi routines together on each piece whilst putting up with a lot of pain. I was unable to do anything in the morning sessions at Lilleshall but after a lunch time treatment I was able to practice bars with minimal pain, floor and vault in pain and beam I was able to do about 2 of each skill before the pain was too much. But the Europeans was coming up so I pushed myself through the trials and the pain, coming out with decent enough scores for a place on the team. Still unable to leap properly I was doing split leaps for my requirements. Four weeks since my injury and to be sure I had an MRI scan this was less than a week before we were due to go to Birmingham. The results told us that I had a stress reaction on the bottom of my pelvis (the bum bone) and this could lead to a fracture if I was to continue training and compete. I had to be pulled out. I was devastated but at the same time relieved they now knew why it was taking so long. I had 4 week of doing nothing and then finally started doing skills on May 17th. I went along and supported my friends at Birmingham and had an amazing time, although I would have loved to have been out there with them. I am extremely proud of their success as I know how hard we all worked and me along with others such as Jenny were just unfortunate. But we will hopefully have other oppurtunities to prove ourselves again :)

On a lighter note it was my 16th birthday recently (13th May) :) :) I got to come home after celebrating with my friends at school and had a chinese with my family :) I got an ipod touch and jewellery!! I had a really good day :) !! I am in the middle of exams, but still managed to take time out of revision to watch my team mates win British Team Champs :) GO HEATHROWWWWW!!!!! :D Hopefully I'll be ready for British...watch this space ;)

JANUARY 2009

Heyy everyone!
I hope everyboday had a good christmas and new year Mine was really good had an amazing time with friends and family. Then it was back to training which was quite hard after the chrismas dinner and time off...but it got slightly easier and now its ok and now all of us are working hard on regaining fitness and stamina for our routines. I have also had mocks which has made me quite tired but has also been quite good having study leave as I got 2 full days off where I 'revised' LOL and got to see some friends and stuff which was good as I don't usually get much time for that. I have also had a school gym competition which although the routines aren't very hard was the longest day ever we were there for about 8 hours. Also we tumbled on a thin piece of carpet so our backs were KILLINGGG!! But apart from that it was a good day and our team came 1st So we will have the national final in Stoke in May. And also regional acro in March. And the snow here was pretty good got 2 days off school and went sledging in Windsor which was hilarious I hope you all enjoyed the snow and got a few days off school!! Well I should be revising so I will get back to it lol!!

DECEMBER 2009

Hey guysss I have had a hectic few weeks recently!! I have had coursework due and mock revision up to the sky and then training for World School Games as well as learning display and then Christmas shopping and trying to get my shoulder back to full strength...but World School Games was probably one of my main focuses as well as getting my shoulder better. Training was going well but whilst practicing for display my shoulder 'popped' for the first time in about a month and a half so that knocked my routine practice for a few days and obviously hurt a lot...but my routines were going well and I felt reasonably prepared for the competition. We got there and had podium training which went well and the comp 2 days later. I don't know what happened but it was a disaster ...but in a way it has only helped me as a gymnast as I looked at what scores I could have got and this was positive and it felt good to be able to watch the finals with no stress and watch how the other competitors handled nerves etc. Next comp I will go in and try my best and that is all I can do and the experience in Doha definitely helped me to see it’s not the end of the world and there will be more opportunities to come :) !! The comp aside I made so many amazing friends and felt the whole English team got on amazingly, well done to everybody!! We had so many jokes and everybody who went made the experience that little bit more fun; it wouldn’t have been the same without any one of you :) Especially the jam jar lid we named poppy lol :P well I have a Christmas display to practice so I’ll keep you updated again soon...have an amazing Christmas :)

OCTOBER 2009
Heyyyy...It has been way too long, sorry!!!

My life has been pretty crazy since the last time spoke to you.  I have done a few comps including GB v Romania and European Youth Olympics festival, British and British teams!! Most have gone pretty well and I have come out of each knowing that I tried my best the most recent competition I did was the English championships where only did beam.  It went really well though and I came 1st.

Since last spoke to you I have had to move schools as my old school, St David’s, shut down. It was a very emotional and stressful time for me and everybody at St David’s. Unfortunately being half way through our GCSE's my year group was the worse affected as now at my new school who different exam boards and I am having to catch up with coursework and missed topics by having extra lessons...fun!!! :/

I went to watch the world championships at the o2 which was amazing!! I had such a good time and the arena was so nice the atmosphere was crazy and most of all I loved GB's new leotards A massive well done to Becky Downie, Beth, Marissa and of course my Heathrow hunny BECKY WING!!!  It was sooo good to be cheering them all on!!   I also got to see NASTA LIUKIN who is my idol and I absolutely love her so that was pretty amazing!!! I got her autograph and she also told me she 'has heard a lot about me' through a mutual friend!!!!!! That was pretty exciting!!  I had a great day and it was really good to be able to see all these amazing gymnasts in action and who I may be competing against next year (fingers crossed!!)

Slowly but reassuringly my injures are fading which is definitely a positive!! And next week us Heathrow gals are off to LA woop woop!!! We are going to train at SCATS gym for 10 days but of course make sure there is time for Disneyland, Sea World, Hollywood, shopping and we are going to see ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ live!!!!!!  Well I hope you all have an amazing Halloween and half term!!!!

JANUARY 27TH 2009
Australian Youth Olympics Festival. Well what can I say I had the most amazing time and made so many many great friends which I miss as if I'd known them for years!!!!
I wasn't even sure I'd be able to go because of my back so when it was decided that I was, my main goal was to get 4 good scores for the team to hopefully get us a medal...So when Jenny dropped out because of her knee and then both me and Nicole fell on vault I was feeling as if I had let the team down a bit as I had stuck this vault so many times before. Trying not to let it get to me I just hoped we had still clung on to the bronze medal!!!! When we had I was absolutley over the moon that I would be coming back from AYOF with a medal and that my vault hadn't cost us 3rd place. After the team competition I felt a lot more confident going into the individual qualifying in 6th place and then coming 6th which was a lot higher than I was expecting ...
Finals
Bars I am very happy that I got into bars final because it is not my favourite piece and not my most confident either so to get into the final and get through my routine was a fantastic result to me.
Beam With watered down routines on beam I knew I could do all my moves easily, I was 7th up so I tried to keep warm and not to get too nervous. I managed to control my nerves and stick my routine Afterwards there was just one more score to come in and we all thought I was in 3rd. The score was 0.1 higher than mine I was quite upset but I had tried my best not to show it the others comforted me and I started to prepare myself for floor. Then one of the AYOF officials told me to line up for the presentation where the top 3 line up and I was so shocked and happy and kept on asking her if she was sure but she was right and I got a bronze medal!
Floor Knowing that I had come 2nd in the qualifications I knew I had a good chance with simple tumbles I didn't have much to worry about but I still felt extremely nervous...I was 3rd up luckily so I didn't have to wait very long...when I presented I knew I just had to give it my all as I didn't have the best tumbles leaps and landings were even more important...My routine went great as I smiled my way through it loving every moment!! My score came up I was in 1st but there were still a lot of great gymnasts to go knowing that all of them had amazing routines I couldn't relax just yet. Nicole was after me so I cheered for her trying to calm her nerves and talking her through her routine reminding her of landings just like she had done to me, her routine was excellent!! She was coming 3rd. Nobody else beat us until the chinese girl who won all around did a really good routine and came 1st, knocking me in to 2nd and Nicole into 4th!!
I was thrilled!!!! I am so happy with all my results and had the most fantastic time with all the other gymnasts (boys, trampolining, rhythmic and the other girlies)!!!
The experience was absolutely amazing and to be lucky enough to have been twice made me appreciate it even more the second time round. Lastly I just want to say it was SO worth the 23 hours on the plane and that rock paper scissors is legendary!!!
Well done all the athletes who went!!!

DECEMBER 17TH 2008
The last time I spoke 2 u was after the British where I was concentrating on getting my foot better. Well since then my foot has got better BUT...I have been very unfortunate this year having injury after injury. And the latest one is my back which started to hurt ages ago and I didn't think much of it but it started to get much worse gradualyl about 2 months ago. So I went to the doctors and was told I had imflammed vertebrae in my lower back....I was so frustrated and annoyed as it was about my 100000th injury this year it seemed like. (BTW That's a slight exaggeration lol)
But now I am on the road to recovery and have got lots of moves and routines back!!! I feel that hopefully in the new year I can make a fresh start with an injury free body *touch wood* and compete in Australia for the Youth Olympic Festival which I am so happy and grateful that I have been selected for. I think that to be picked to do a competition in Australia is a great opportunity which not a lot of people will get so to be picked twice is really AMAZING!!!!
At heathrow we have just finished our xmas display 2008 and it was so fun!!! I absolutely love doing display because of the energy and fun of the show. I love performing to audiences and just have a fantastic time in display each year....
this year we did ABBA as our opening act, bars, tumble, aladdin, barcelona which was with the acro girls, and skeletons which was my favourite. Skeletons was just our group and we did a perfrmance wearing a black catsuit and mask with white bones on. The lighting used for it was UV so you could only see the white bones!!!!! It was sooo good because nobody knew who you were so you could just go mad!!!!!!!
Well I have almost written an essay so I will stop before it becomes my life story ( trust me I could go on) lol....
Hope you have a great Christmas nad happy New Year!!!!!!

06.07.2008

Hey guys! the last I wrote to you was in March and since then a lot of things have happened - some good and some bad The bad things are hurting my foot which I hurt before Europeans and after so it is still sore now but it's getting better. The good things are getting chosen and going to Europeans which was an amazing experience. All of our team were competing on podium for the first time and we all loved it...although I found it slightly confusing and didn't know who to present to on floor so ended up just presenting to the screens!!!!
Then of course British teams which was really good as our team was quite young having only 1 senior and only 4 of us also me being injured so doing easier routines left us at a slight disadvantage but we managed to come 3rd which was really good!!!!!!!!!!
Then British was excellent as I came 2nd with the worst run up I have ever had because of my foot being injured every month this year..so this meant I didn't have any new moves in or anything but I had a clean competition and also got 2 medals in finalsssss!!!!!!!!!
A big well done to everybody else who competed in the british!!!!!!
Now I am concentrating on getting my new moves for my next competitions and getting my foot strong again!!!!!!!
I have already broken up from school for 8 and a half weeks which is soooooo good as I haven't been home for quite a long time as I have had a busy weekend every week so didn't have the time!!!!!!!! I am having 1 or 2 small holidays just in England this year which should be fun!!!!!
Any way last but not least I want to say good luck and well done to the olympic team especially my heathrow team mate/fellow heathrow hunny!!! BECKY WING!!!!!!!!

23.03.2008

I haven't left any messages in a while I've been really busy as per usual!!! Sorry!!

Just over 2 months ago I hurt my toe on a shoot over on bars, and just as it started to get better I hit it again about a month later which was very annoying as I knew I had a lot of trials and competitions coming up...My toe was still very sore and I did a European trial where I only did bars without a proper mount or dismount at Lilleshall...and our next trial was Gb V France which went very well and better than I expected to be honest which was great I went clean and came 2nd!!!!

I am now at Lilleshall sitting next to Jenny Pinches as we are all on a European squad!! We have another control comp tomorow... and then we go home on Staurday for 2 days over easter and then we come back for some more training at Lilleshall and then we leave for the Euros!!!!

I am very excited as this will be a new experience and to be competing against excellent gymnasts from all over Europe will definetley make it a memorable trip.....

I hope everybody has a great easter!!!!

Hi Everyone

I'm sorry I haven't sent a D's thoughts for a while but I have been so busy in South Africa and China and Christmas shopping...South Africa was with my gym and it was amazing and soo fun and I had such a good time and I have some great memories and have made a few new good friends...China was completely different from any trip I've ever been on it was my first trip abroad with Adrian, Colin and Corina so I was a bit worried but it was an amazing experience and we had soo much fun shopping in the markets and we even climbed the great wall which was different from anything I've ever done before and training firstly with the GB seniors was amazing and then also at the Chinese national centre was soo amazing watching the Chinese gymnasts train was just soo cool!!! In our first training session in Beijing I was on the beam next to CHENG FEI!!! Anyway once we got back we had our Christmas display at gym which was sooo good on the last display we had a party after and we didn't get back till 2am!!!! My Christmas was really nice as well I spent it at home with my family and new years was wicked to, with my mum sister and our friend...Soon there will be some new pictures on my website from Christmas display and my holidays and stuff.. Any way I hope you all had a good new year and have a great 2008!!!

Hi Everyone

My summer was gr8! I went on holiday just in England but it was still really fun, I did a lot of shopping with my prize money from the British and went round my friends houses and stuff and had a barbecue on the beach on holiday and I have also caught up with some of my friends from back home. I missed my school friends quite a lot so was excited to see them when I came back... I'm in year 9 now so I have to start some GCSE work and stuff so wish me luck lol!!! Now I'm back it feels really tiring getting back into the routine of school and gym and having homework... it is annoying to. Hope you all had a gr8 summer

Hi Everyone

I have had a great day today (09.06.07)! Because today I won the British!!!!! I had a great competition winning bars and beam and coming 2nd on vault and 3rd on range and floor.... I made all finals and went clean on every piece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a new dismount off bars which was a full out and I stuck it... I wasn't expecting to do as well as I did as I haven't had the greatest build up because off injuries (knee and shoulder) and I have exams at school and so I was quite stressed I was aiming for top 6 and landing my new bars dismount but going clean on every piece and then winning was obviously a goal I would've loved to achieve!!!! And when it became true I was sooooo sooooooo happy, excited and thrilled to bits!!!! Well done to everyone that competed and especially all the Heathrow peeps Nic, Laura, Keshia and Charlotte!! And thanks to my coaches Vince, Michelle and Natalia for coaching me!!!
